The talk around seems to be about the cold at present.I need boots ,steamer, hood etc to feel comfortable. My question is what gloves are best for sup?.I have a pair of dive gloves ,they seem to have leather type material on the palms. They are good in keeping the hands warm ,however if you have to grab the rail of the board after an impromptu swim(a very regular occurrence) they are as slippery as .Thoughts on warmth with grip. Those living up north will probably not need to apply....

Ripcurl has just released a new glove in the E-Bomb range, they look the goods. Teeps bought a pair the other day, maybe he can review them. I use two different types that I got from a canoe type retailer. One is neoprene and pretty warm. The other is finger less and quite thin fabric on the back of the hand, but thicker leather on the palm. They're really less about keeping the hands warm and more about avoiding blisters. PS. Yes, I'm soft.

The other things that worry me about the urine solution are 1...When do you do it? 2... The great white is thought to follow up urine scent in the water. Not many well read Sth Aussie surfers etc enjoy the warmth of a good pee, without thinking "what's the dark shape over there,or what was that broke the surface over there? Happened to me the last time out(not the pee) but the what's that,it turned out to be a bloody big seal ,came right up close ,well relatively.

They make a good hoodie, they can custom build to. These hoods are dam warm.

Check out some fingerless cycling gloves from Big W (Giant) -they're sort of water proof - wore mine when I had a big split in my hand and they work well and at under $20 they're a bargain - used tham windsurfing on the affected hand and you couldnt tell that you had them on

I purchased a great pair of O'neill Psycho wetsuit gloves. Well worth every cent ($69 from Mordy surf). I get bad chill blains and these have stopped the wind, kept in the warmth and even have grippy bits on the outside to grip the paddle. I also use them for sailing with sailing gloves over the top so they dont wear. They are only 1.5mm thick so feeling and bending the fingers is still good. Must try them on for size though and go as small as comfy.

the psycho gloves are great - had the 2mm ones all last year. My better half just bought the patagonia ones, haven't heard a match report yet.
