hi there chaps,

just curious if anyone has one of these in full carbon, and whether they're any good,

interesting design, considerably cheaper than other big brands so just wondering if it's worth looking into

For racing or for surf ?

For surf;
Resting and waiting for waves.... your paddle is not super important, but a light paddle will always helps!

For race, and every day use;
My humble opinion.... get your kitchen scales out, and weigh it... The website tells me 640 grams for a 7 inch blade (and shaft, complete). You really want to be well under 600 grams for an 8 inch blade. You can get an 8"1/2 (220mm) blade that weighs in at 410 grams.

Cabrinha Shaft - Not sure about it's shaft stiffness.... test it, compare to others....

The Naish 8" RDS (Reduced Diameter Shaft) is a popular paddle, widely available... Not sure on weight, but probably around 640-700 grams also (the old Naish 9" fibreglass blade is kind of heavy, and is about 840grams, complete, uncut shaft).... The 8" Naish RDS is a great value paddle at RRP$269 (AUD) I believe.... The RDS shaft looks like "a million bucks" but being RDS is does have a reasonable amount of flex, which loses some power, BUT it should be kind to your shoulders.... A good surf and recreational paddle.

GSI Paddle (Global Surf Industries) - I picked up an old GSI paddle the other day.... felt like a brick, thought it might have water inside... shook it hard, no apparent water... heaviest paddle I have ever felt... guessing 1,000 grams+ !! Really large diameter shaft.... old paddle though.... (old in SUP terms anyway!! Maybe 3-5 years old????)

They have a lot of weight in the blade area of the paddle resulting in a lot of swing weight.. (not a good thing for paddles imo).
