Hello breezers

after some input on anyone who has had extensive use or tried , 2014 Dc12'6 x 29" and fanatic 2013 12"6 x 30 carbons
pros and cons of each if anyone has info it would be much appreciated . @ 90kg I like the wider boards as I don't have to concentrate on balance as much and can put more into stoke especially in and out of surf where most of my paddling is done. I have tried both but just got back from 2 month without paddling and hard to get differences between them. I am concerned about better construction as I have snapped 2 x starboard race 12'6 in last 2 years . I have read that nsp full wrapped carbon , where the fanatic is only carbon on top layer and fibreglas epoxy bottom ?? but I could be wrong look forward to some comments

see your o the Sunshine Coast.
see Ocean Addicts about the Fanatic
and
Ring/contact Dale Chapman on Gold Coast about where to try DC/NSP
This way you can get your own perspective after everyone gives you theirs.

Yeah i thought so
hard to try a DC/NSP up there but Dale may know where to go or if one of us travel up there soon.
And you are well aware of the ocean addicts
i think it will be hard to find someone who has tried both. So lets hope

Dales boards are the most fun to surf by far!!

The fanatics pick up runs better then any as you can really feel the water and they plane really quickly

Hi Scotty

Have you considered of the all new Coreban 12'6 Sonic.

12?6? x 29 x 6'' at the nose and 3 1/2 '' at the tail. 209 litres
12?6? x 27 x 6'' at the nose and 3 1/2 '' at the tail. 202 litres

12'6 x 27" Sonic - Red Black (Carbon/Kevlar) - RRP $3,465.00
12'6 x 29" Sonic - Red Black (Carbon/Kevlar) - RRP $3,465.00

Perhaps the FASTEST BOARD IN THE WORLD the new Coreban SONIC 12?6? has been smashing race records and turning heads in the USA and Europe. Now available! Previously only used by Team Coreban in race circuits worldwide the Coreban Sonic is now available to the public. This is a highly-refined rocket ship of a race board designed for serious recreational class and established elite racers looking for a boost in speed. It is available in both Pure and Carbon Kevlar construction and in two widths. 27" and 29". When paddling scoot up on the board to sink the nose slightly in flat water and the board will accelerate immediately. You will get the sensation of riding on the back of a dolphin. Scoot back in choppier conditions and the nose will ride up and you will jump through sloppier conditions without losing the ability to accelerate. The bottom of the board is designed to provide paddlers with a shape that will increase acceleration and lift onto a plane much faster. The paddler will not get a sense of a limiting "hull speed" with this board; there is no limit (within reason). A proven race winner and a super light rocket ship. (Approximate weight is 10kg for the Carbon Kevlar models)

Kind regards and enjoy the ride.

Peter

Hi Scotty,

Are you sure you need to go as wide as 29" or 30"? I weigh 93 kilos and a 27.5 is all I ever need in the surf or downwind. Flat water I race a 24" I know the DC is fast on flat water but I think the Fanatic will have it's measure and then some catching bumps.

Balance comes on really quickly in the early part of SUP learning so be careful not to buy too wide, this is especially poignant if you start training and drop a few kegs. Just food for thought ....

I think Jappy if referring to the race that was won down here on 1, some people refer to Tassie as overseas

"You will get the sensation of riding on the back of a dolphin"

Hilarious! You couldn't make it up.

Here's a couple more for you Coreban, please feel free to use them free of charge:

"The Sonic sets a new standard in race technology. The acceleration it provides is so astonishing that it may remove loose dental fittings"

"We have called this board the Sonic because the boom it creates in your wallet will be matched by the boom in your bowels as you achieve planing speed and beyond on even the smallest of ripples".

I am a fan of the Coreban brand, but sometimes I think their exuberance and passion get the better of them.

I think I would need a dolphin to ride as it doesn't look like a ocean / surf type board. looks more for flat water

Apart from the over the top marketing , the Coreban boards go pretty good. Ive been experimenting with the 14 turbo , large fin , small fin , no fins , 4 small fins. And have come to the conclusion fins are over ratedAnd the ridiculous large fins you see on most sups do little for stability and in the ocean makes the board more unstable , only real purpose is to help turn of the tail.
