Just like windsurfing booms, this is caused by trapping some salt water, which will slowly get out while depositing salt between the pieces.

So disassemble the parts after a session. Rincing them in clear water is good, but the most important point is not let them dry assembled, or at least move them out of position after the session so that the salt does not build up at the exact same place.

Alloy (unanodised) and carbon make a small amount of electricity when touching , do these touch? .I agree completely with wash off any salt water and let them dry unjoined.

GSI Carbon - the last GSI carbon paddle I saw must have been the best part of 1kg. There are 400 gram options out there. Quick Blade do one at 400 / 420. Quite a few others are in the 450-600 gram range.

GSI Aluminium - save yourself the time and trouble, sell it as is, FUSED, and put the money into carbon ! Problem solved !

PS - GSI never had a soul in first place. It's a money making machine, utilising a moderate amount of partially exploited Asian labour.... Sorry!

Oh no company has a soul and every manufacturing company is here to make money or else they would not be in business. Truth is that most companies involved in our beloved sports will exploit the local populace to stay in business. This is called economics 101.
