Get yourself a 14' Glide in the AST and you can't go wrong.. It's an excellent board at a bargain price.

I had a 14 glide but just got a dc16 which is IMO a much better board. Only downside is the extra 2 feet for storage.

Also look at hobie, coreban, lahui Kai, sic, fanatic, Jimmy Lewis, starboard

Love my Glide! Used one on a Maliko Run as well. NEVER had the nose go under! In flat water the banana bottom curve feels like you're having to work pretty hard but in big bumps in feels great. No need for too much fancy footwork to keep from falling which is good if you're getting tired...

Seems like you're very close to the Stand Up Paddle Sports guys in Osborne Park. They are effectively the Starboard distributors and they also stock Naish. See if you can demo the Starboard 14' Surf Race and the Naish 14' Glide. You'll no doubt have a personal preference once you've had a run on both. For me it's the Starboard, but they're really hard to split.

Get out there and demo as many boards as you can ,and once you feel the one is right for you BUY IT ..... as your have a blast!!!!!!!!!

Everyone on here sticks to a brand that best suits them , I'm C4 Waterman and have the C4 Vortice XP and are very happy with this board.

Two stand-out boards on sale here are a SIC F16, and a DC16. Great boards for your weight Jeremy. The DC will probably be slightly better for Flat Water Touring & Racing, and SIC F16 for DW. F16 might be slightly better in really good DW conditions.

Either board would be great for Race & DW, general coastal and estuary touring.

Any plans for another Great Ocean Road visit Jeremy?

SIC F16 from Hux.

A DC16 from Lacey;

My guide ratings out of 10...Lacey or others might be able to help out here too.... ;

DC16;
Flat Water Race - 9.5+
DW - 9

F16;
Flat Water Race - 9
DW - 9.5+

Door to door delivery would be very roughly $150 (+?).

If this is the same Blue DC16 that was for sale recently at a slightly less price, one thing i found out about it is that it is 30" wide. So for someone 5'11 it may not give you the best platform for an efficient stroke as you will be paddling wide to not hit the board and not as 'up and down' as you should be.

I agree, looks awesome! Lacey can confirm, but it looks around the 27" ballpark (wide). I could probably fit them both onto the Garage Ceiling!

Just demo'd the naish 14 ft glide. I tried to cajole my son into helping me drop a car off but he wasnt able too. No worries ill just paddle a little up wind and then try it out. That proved near impossible. Breeze 15-17 knots.
Dragged the board 500m up the beach (my fitness leaves a bit to be desired at present..)... and came back paddling. I need a longer run to assess the board , but intial impressions were it was fantastic.
I'll try to give it another go and also try some other boards.
I can see this would be sensational fun in better conditions especially as my skills develop.

SIMON..I going to Melbourne for a course in October and I'm taking a a week off after to go to the surf coast. oct 31- nov 5th. I hope to catch up with you and Phil again.

Might have to see if you can keep the 14' for this Saturday.
Winds look great for a Dw board trial. I'm up for a run in the arvo and I'm sure others will be in it also so that cures your car probs.

hi, blue dc 16 it's around 27.5 wide. simondo, i think you might be a bit generous with the f16 flatwater rating.they are great boards, but a flatwater racer they aren't
cheers
