do you boys ever paddle up wind against the 30 knots and then turn with it or do you only go down wind. I live in perth and have plenty of downwind opps but i bought a 10ft channel island fish for my first rig and dont get it out much.travelling any distance on land with that seems hard work let alone a 14+ft

10 knots.. err.. yeah.. No probs.

20 knots.. arr.. well err yeah (for a short distance..longer if I really have to)

30 knots.. arrrrr nah.. Too much like hard work.

40 knots.. ummm.. Don't even think about it.

Today when Dave and I started our down-winder we got hit with a strong gust that was like someone slapping you on the back and making you step forward.

We tryed to paddle side on to the gust for a while to make it around the breakwater wall and it was almost impossable..so we gave up.. but then just as we did the wind dropped for a moment and we went for it and made it.. but jeez it was hard work.

Im guessing your in Hillarys NoisyB?
Downwinders are just that... downwinders
For example, park your car at Trigg, paddle downwind in a seabreeze to Hillarys.
Then get someone to pick you up and drive you and your board back to your car OR the best way is to go with someone else, meet at Hillarys, leave one car there and both get into the other car with your boards and drive down to Trigg. Both paddle downwind to Hillarys, get in the car you left at Hillarys and drive back down to Trigg.
Yeah? Did I make sense?
