no not me,i dont lose my stuff. i used to laugh when i read threads about people losing paddles(in the car park) i thought you dumb arse, that is a expensive lesson and always tried to understand how you can do it. well today i experienced first hand the stupidity of people. hey here is a tip for you all. keep paddle near the rest of your gear and you wont forget it. ffs why put it 20mtr away from you(he was not the only one that did it) be thankful i was nice mate and chased your van down so you could get it back.

I've done it a couple of times now but luckily someone I've known has grabbed it. Easy to do after years of only ever having to remember to throw the board in the car. Now I make sure the paddle goes in as soon as I unlock the door.

I agree. If I were to give you $500 (the equivalent of a paddle) every time you got out of the surf I'm pretty sure you wouldnt leave that lying around.

OK board on tied down check. paddle in check. wettie, booties, towell check ok go home . Doesn't seem that hard to make sure you have everthing before you go.

Lost count of the number of times!
Could be early onset senile dimentia (probably not all that early!!)
Not such a problem when its the local back or front beach, just a quick turnaround drive home in the wettie to face the sarcastic barbs of The Minister For War And Finance. But when its a down the coast run..........faaaaaaaaark!!
Never left one at the beach though, touch wood. Guess it comes down to the fact that you're never in as much of a hurry to leave as you are to get there.
Cheers

Very first thing I do after a surf is put the paddle in my car. Simple solution. I then do a walk around the car before im about to leave to check i've got everything :)

Dont understand how people forget paddles, seriously...

Now that i've said this i'll be posting next week about my lost paddle :)

I thought this thread might be about those crew who sit way out wide with broken necks or eyes that can't see too far and just go anyway.

I put the paddle cover in the board cover before I go out then its in my hands to put the paddle away before I can put the board back in the cover when I'm packing up.

It's easy to leave a paddle behind , you come in dry off load the board and go .Pretty easy to do if you still surf a shortie you never have to worry about the second item.

First thing I do is put the paddle in the car straight away then dry off and load the board.

Assuming you have grass nearby to place the sup on. When I have grass I always place the sup down then the paddle goes straight in the van - then sup on roof. I left my $500 paddle behind last year due to there being no grass at the boat ramp I paddled at for first time - only carpark. In this case it totally threw me out as I leaned my paddle up against a telegraph pole and the rest is history. At the time I thought I will texta my mobile number on my new paddle but that just made too much sense.

That's the one , placing your paddle away from the board.

Yep, since my loss I now always lean my paddle against the van windsheild. That way I may run it over but not leave it behind.

I always put my paddle down with the handle resting on the drivers side bumper... that way I will trip over it after I load my SUP... hard to forget that

Compared to other sports eg snowsking with the family (think about remembering hat, gloves, skis, poles, boots, lift passes etc etc times 4) I find it relatively simple to not forget the stick or the board.
I have however bounced my trusty K Meth from the back of the ute a few times and into traffic.3.5 years later its still going strong.Talk about robust!

Once was enough for me. It was only a $150 quality paddle but was major trauma at the time
I belong to the "unlock the door/put paddle in vehicle" school of thought these days
