hi all. just bought a board with tri or quad options. can somebody tell me the pros and cons of both options. my local spot is a fat peeling rivermouth in tassie that can turn on great waves, but mostly small peelers. ta

would recomend just trying both set ups and see which one you prefer as really depends on the board and its design etc..
usualy you find the thruster is better for drive and comes straight of the bottom squarer and better and the quad is quicker down the line speed and requires longer lines more draw out turns but can release well. I personaly prefer the thruster but each to his own GOODLUCK

I agree with DTM but if the wave is a fatty I recon the quad is the go.

For me depends on the size/length of the board. I have a 9'4", and quads on this size slide to much for me, rather than carving. Also wave size plays a part.

Never gonna be a simple answer to this coz boards ain't boards and fins ain't fins. As well as thruster vs quad vs 2+1, the size, template, flex, and foil of the fins will make a difference as well as the size and shape of your board. Wave size definitely makes a difference to how fins will hold up/skip out etc.
Best is as DTM says, just try all fins that came with your board and use what feels right.
If you want to upgrade, try some suggestions from your local sup shop. Most shops will have test drive fins so you may even be able to try some different setups.
