am getting a walden 10 10, surf conditions once i get proficient enough will be surfing whatever size wave i can find and i weigh 105kg

It depends on what you are doing and what problems you are trying to deal with.

For most beginners excessive yawing is a problem. You're paddling for a wave but your power strokes are getting you sideways.

You can fix the problem by:
- starting side on to the wave and timing your strokes so that when you reach full power you are going in the right direction.
- getting good at paddling and swapping sides.
- put in a ferking big centre fin. I have a 10" Jimmy Lewis that works well.
