Excellent idea, I windSUP a fair bit and love that one board can give me multiple uses of the water.

with winSUP? Yes no drama, I find the extra water length allows me to head upwind pretty well. I wouldn't try it with a quad fin though as Im not sure you would have enough resistance to stay upwind. I have a 12'6 Fanatic and I would love to sail it like the old Div2 boards from back in the day.

Along the same lines but instead of a SUP use an old Hobie cat so you can have three or four people on it at the same time. What size kite would you use?

I think DJ meant with a kite, as he has run a windsurf sail on his 12'6 glide if I remember correctly.

Not sure the Fanatic would mimic a Lechner DivII board, as the hull on those beasts was very round with no real plaining surface to speak of. Does Dougy McLean still sails his around the lake in Canberra? Super fast upwind in about 8knots.

Yes.. With a kite.. I have an old 16 that I'm sure will work on the right day.

yeah totally it pointed quite well, rode it like the old mistral imcos really, i learnt to winzurf of that board
got it planning a fair bit but it was a mission, the wind was dying. couldnt hold the camera and do that at the same time
