Hi Guys

I just tried the C4 iSUP 10' this morning on the river. It is as stable as you would expect for a board of this size and tracks fairly well (in fact it surprised me). The guy had it pumped up at 12PSI and I was a bit worried how bendy it felt and how much water was over my feet. I took it back in and he inflated it to the recommended 15PSI......it felt like a completely different board!

My question to you lovely people: Has anyone tried this board in the surf? (I weigh 90kg)
I would have liked to compare it to the 10'6, but they don't have one. Thoughts on 10 vs 10'6 for a 90kg fellow.

AIMS - I have a 12'6 fanatic which I traded my old 10'5 Drive, so I wanted another simple surf SUP that I could surf and travel with and get the wife and kids involved.
Cheers

I think the isup are the pic of the inflatables , but as far as surf goes I think the plastic/rubber fins will always be the downfall.

Dylan from Newcastle Sup is the man who knows all about C4 isups. I'm sure he will chime in soon.

You can kinda surf them. Make sure they are inflated really hard, I go past 15 psi until either I or the pump gives up. If you don't, the board will wobble on the wave. You have to really get on the tail to carve it. The fins are really draggy, especially if they are bent because the board has been rolled up. Going out, the nose tends to catch on the white-water.
The big advantage is that you are not going to damage the board, yourself, or others while you are out there. Really good for learners IMHO. I use mine when it is really crowded (some surfers get stressed until I show them it's rubber :-) or where it is rocky and I'm nervous about puncturing the board. We are starting to experiment with white-water rivers as well, Grade 2/3 stuff, there is real potential there. My only whinge is that they didn't develop a slot-in fin. There is a New Zealand/Australian company called Blowfish that has done this: https://blowfishboards.com/

Hi,

my company had very good success with our brand "airSUP" inflatable SUPs last summer in Japan, we now have stock in Sydney.

all airSUP have a traditional real fin system, we think it's much better than C4 or any other brand on the market (I've seen the C4 fcs fin system, I think ours is still better)

airSUP come standard with an 8" fin, they surf quite well.
we are currently testing with 10" fins.
some photos on our website: http://air-sup.com

I'll be back in Australia from November 14th - December 18th if you would like a free test ride in either Sydney or Gold Coast contact me via the website.

Even compared to the ULI's? I really liked the look of the Fat arse quad..

Actually had gone completely of the idea of a inflatable sup and was going for a Starbord Slick ( i want to use it around the kids, boat at Rotto and easy to travel with) until i saw the Fat arse quad and now confused again..

I have the 12'6 C4 and while I haven't had it out in big surf it goes a treat in the small stuff. You can pick up the waves real early, set the rail and then it just flies down the line. Recently surfed it in Samoa over reef in waist deep water no probs. My brother is currently riding his 10'6 in double overhead at Aganoa.

Beau Nixon (current NSW State champ and C4 Waterman) surfed the 9'3 subvector isup in Bali and said it goes great.

i surfed the 10'9 XXL ISUP in 4ft howling NE off Merewether the other day was one of the most stable boards iv used and preformed surprisingly well even with bent fins.

SUBNINE! all the new inflatables coming out hopefully soon! will have what we call the Cuttlefish fin system, FCS fins, which allows you to put you high performance fins in and shred.

i will keep it posted on this post when i have them in stock.

Fin boxes sound like a fantastic option for most BUT ...
You will need the vinyl fins for white water.
Hope the FCS boxes dont become an exclusive standard production.
