Hi guys and gals. Ive seen a nice cheap Sup for sale on here thats big and stable and should be good for a begginer BUT the deck pad is prety second hand looking. Is this stuff generally replacable or is it not worth the effort as it will only wear out again? Sorry for the kook-ness lol

Hmmm,

Regripping a SUP or shooting yourself in the testicles with a Taser

Hand me the tazer, you regrip the board.

If you havent done it before it can be a task to get the original grip off especilly if its warn and breaking up.

Be prepared for lots off elbow grease, chemicals and swearing.

Or

Get your local SUP shop to do it for a price.

Vid we did to put it back on:

I have had 2 experiences with SUP deck grip removal:

#1 I had a nice surf sup but the grip was really slippery (my excuse anyway) I left it in the sun for about 15-20min and pulled it off in about 5 pieces, a quick whipe with turps and it was perfect, ready for new grip....Too Easy (this grip was in perfect condition and NOT peeling anywhere)

#2 I bought a 2nd hand mal surf sup, the grip was falling apart, plus it is a really nice looking board and I wanted to wax it. So I put in the sun and started to peel......well about 50 billion pieces later i got it off.....but it left most of the adhesive behind. So thinners, scraper and the radio got it off.....oh and about 12-16hrs total...No lie!

I have done 6 or 7 regrips, 2 x 12fters (never again)

1 x board 8 ft with 2/3 length white grip the worst I have ever done lol.

Quotation for Regrip of Paddle Board:

ESTIMATE ONLY

1 x case Grange
1 x case Whytes and Mackays + 1 large container of ice
2 x cartons of Corona + 4 x large lemons presliced + Eskie + 4 bags ice

1 x trip to Mentawiis for 2 x adult + 3 x children (1st class return) 10 days

Duration: variable based on number of hangovers, number of times locked up for swearing or sent into rehab due to chemical absorbtion.

Estimate subject to change if the person I con into doing the regrip for me does not drink Corona
