Hi Guys,
Just had a demo on both naish 11ft 4 vs starboard 10ft 5. Liked both but cannot decide.
I also had a go on the naish 10ft6 but it was a bit tippy for my skill level at the moment and alot harder to catch waves.
I am 90kgs and found that the sb10'5 was just as stable as the 11'4. The 11'4 felt faster on the wave but I guess that is due to the extra volume.
The sb10'5 only had the ctr fin in(a mfc, size ?)but I am not sure how much difference they make?
I will mainly be using the boards in waves but would also need enough volume to muck around with my kids on it and sail too.I think both these boards cover that.
I am leaning towards the naish as it performs well on the wave, but, it is bigger and more likely to snap in a wipeout and I am seeing plenty of guys in the buy/sell pages selling their big sup's and the reason for selling is to go smaller.
Cheers.

I have ridden both quite a bit and owned a naish 11.4. In my opinion the starboard is bar far a better board in most conditions. The starboard is much more stable and a better flatwater paddler than the naish, also the starboard is lighter. In the surf in everyday conditions say up to head high the starboard paddles in easier and is a much quicker board probably due to its slightly flatter rocker. The naish is a lot more work on the wave as the rocker tends to need to be constantly worked by the rider to get it to perform whereas the starboard is just a very easy and predictable board to surf and paddle. The only time I reckon the naish will have the edge is in bigger hollower surf where its rocker will keep you out of trouble a bit, but overall the starboard is a much much better everyday board IMO>

I would take a look at the Naish Mana 10'0" or 9'5". These boards have the best of both worlds really stable and surf great. They have been all over the forums and people are raving about them! I own the 9'5" here on Maui and I love it.

The mana 10' has no mast base point so it is off the list unfortunately.
Looks like a sweet board though.
I was at wss in syd yesterday looking at them.

Can only comment on the Naish 11'4''...and it is a perfect board for learning, flatwater and surf cruising on rolling point breaks. Excellent family board too - wife can learn on it and I can paddle with kids. Also makes a fun mal when it's too windy to paddle.

Not ideal for more pitching waves though - well suited to point breaks. Would be better looking at othe designs if you plan to use it in the surf a lot or maybe consider a smaller Naish.

Would be interested to know how it goes as a sailboard..

The option of windsurfing a board was originally a high priority in choosing a board for me. Since I got my starboard 11'2" I've never even considered windsurfing it and I've now just got a jl 10' and didn't even think about the windsurfing option.
