hi there,

well.... i'm new to the sport, and already my fun is being thwarted by hubby, who refuses point blank to have a SUP board at home. even though we have altogether 7 of his boards... from surfboards, to snow boarding so i'm sure you can imagine how i feel when he tells me that i cannot store my new SUP at home, because it's too big.... hmm, right. we've got a dam landcruiser for gods sake.

anyway, so the point of this post is that i'm looking for any friendly soul, who has either a garage, a shed, a space in their garden, a wall (!!), or who knows somebody who does, who would be willing to rent out that space for a reasonable amount of money for me to house the poor board which i can't take anywhere close to my own house.

other essential info:
+ i live in manly, NSW, in eastern hill, so i'm ideally looking for something that's walking distance, as i don't have access to the landcruiser when i please. so i'll be lugging the board from wherever it's housed to the harbour by foot.
+ ideally, i'm also looking for somewhere that i can access when i please, and not be bound by the availability of whoever is renting me the space.
+ reasonable $$$, i'm in a bind, but i can't really afford to pay through the nose for the storage, so please no exploiters of fair maidens. the board already cost me enough.

well, i think that about sums up my predicament. so if anybody out there can help, please let me know, as i'm really stuck at the moment, since the board is on order, but with nowhere to go when i get it.

thanks for all of you who've taken the time to read this.

Hi Tania - surely you'd have room in the bedroom to store your board if hubby slept in the LandCruiser....

Make a stand and keep it at home!
Remember it HALF yours as well!

Get creative and put some hooks on the fence and hang it up horizontally. It won't take up any room at all. But being Manly I bet you don't have much fence.

Goodluck either way. Hope you work it out.

Hi there tans.. Just tell him the board stays or there'll be no sex.. I'm sure that'll work..

Maybe try under the house (if you live in a house)..or hang it like I do mine..

When your new board arrives let him have a paddle.......next thing there will be ten sup boards at your house.

Try the neigbours in your street. See if you can spot anyone with boardracks or surf stickers on their car. Its a bit Stalky but you'll probably find someone nearby if you look hard enough.

Hi Tania,

The board you have ordered will be nice for cruising in the harbour, but it is a heavy board (13kg at a guess) and it doesn't have a handle, so it will be difficult to carry for any distance. There is another thread on this forum somewhere which discussed all the options. You could ask at the shop where you are buying the board if they have any suggestions.

hi Steve,

good point!!!! i hadn't originally really thought about that, but further to trying some other boards, i have changed my mind women huh?!

being a shortie, i found i really need the handle, and other than the oxbow, i've actaully been trying out the starboards, tried the 11" something and the 10"5', and both 30in wide..... so stable really nice... and with handles they are sooo much better, and lighter, yes another good point by you. lucky for me, the board order hasn't gone through yet, so i've put a stop to that one.... still looking for a home for it when i get it though

Hey Tans the 9 6" naish would be perfect for you Really light and easy to carry, my wife rides one and loves it.

Trade your husband in on one, surely your joking he wont let you keep it at home Sounds like a goose if this is true

hi y'all.

i've got a result! got my board, decided on a starboard tuffskin 10'5 in the end and hubbie has agreed that we can put up a ceiling rack in the garage for it and his longboard.

will probably take some of the rack ideas from DJ's racks....so thanks for that DJ.

so all's well.... stress over and i've finally got my board, although it's still at the shop until rack is installed

Well done Tans.
Good choice of board, you won't be dissappointed.

Well done on your first long wave Kylie.

Hey Brooko, has Kylie been throwning any hints yet that the new board might look better on her side of the ute?

Richmond supporters should be more worried with all those poncey chardonnay sipping, range rover drivers that have jumped on as Tigers' supporters now that you have Cuzons in your team.

now back to the SUP...
