hey had a guy comment on the stand up thing "old man of the sea" was his description ...... i laughed it off and thought later man this sport can be tough on your body and if you don't keep in shape you could be the dead man of the sea.....anyone else get this stupid mis conception that big board means old man?
I find a retort along the lined of - "that would make you the f wit of the sea" works well in situations like that.....
hahaa funny i remember a Laird video b4 sup i think and he dragged out a massive old timber 10foot and his comment was " from when men were men and boards were big " cant argue with that eh.
It could be worse,I witnessed a few longboaders trading blows yesterday Very ordinary behaviour in 20 degrees 2 foot clean all day,how can anyone get angry
I copped a lot of crap from my mates when i first started about giving up on surfing and resorting to riding one of those things.
It was so much fun though I didnt really care.
Fast forward a few years and I am fitter than I have been for years and it has lead me down a completely new path of ocean racing and enjoyment that I never even knew existed before. I started because I felt old, now I feel much younger than before and my regular surfing is better as a result.
yeh you have to love the fitness this requires and what it does for you...my wife even thinks the six pack is almost visible again with the right equipment :)
i know some pretty fit guys that would be shaking after 2 or 3 solid hours of sup....
