i've been doing some off shore and still water paddling the last couple of days.
i have a shaka pu set up at 6" above which has been great on the shorter sups when surfing. the paddle felt pretty good off shore. however on the flats i felt my neck and traps coming into play as i was finishing strokes.i struggled to keep my shoulders i n a compressed position. i might add i reckon i'm sitting about 2" higher out of the water then on my 8 10.
questions 1 should i get another paddle a bit longer, maybe back to 8" above
2 i would like a paddle that can match the weight of a shaka pu, but wouldn't mind trying a knob type handle. the shaka handle i think could be a bit wearing on the palms ( no jokes here). i have two mighty callouses on each palm from the shaka handle as it is
3 is it worth considering different lenght paddles for flats and off shore
4 i've never had this neckie/trappie/ tighten up feeling before
5 recommended paddles
6 anything else
cheers
