I have been considering buying a starboard 11'2. Can I get some feedback from present owners of same. I welcome both positive and negative input. Does anyone recommend something better? I would use it probably 90% surf and 10% flat water. I'm a mature age (53) and weigh 82 kilo. Thanks

HI Elbeau,
Glad to hear the paddling is going well for you. The 11'2 is a great allround surfing board that will make a good next step for you. It will still give you some of the nice glide you're use to with the 12'6" but without doubt will surf better for you.
I would also have a look at the 9'8" Starboard as this is also stable enough for your second board and will be that little bit snappier and looser in the turns. It is however not as good a general paddler particularly compared to the 11'2".
If you can get a paddle on the 11'2" you'll like it but some other boards worth a look could be the Naish 10'6" 'but paddle it first to make sure you're comfortable on it because it's a bit narrower", also the Jimmy Lewis 10'4" and the 10'8" could make a good next board. One coming out soon is the Naish 11'4" which is proving to be a really nice board so far.
All the best but try to paddle some of these boards before you grab one.
Sam.

Hello Sam.
Nice to hear from you. I remember my first paddle on a Naish at your place. Thanks for the input. I did some research and concluded the 11'2 was what I was really after. A surfing trip now consists of not only looking for good breaks but also investigating interesting rivers and lakes. The starboard 11'2 fulfills all the criteria for both pursuits. Loose enough in the surf and bouyant enough on flat water. I should be an agent for you guys. I promote these things all over. Thanks again
