generally speaking will a surf shape be harder to catch a wave but more maneuverable when you're on it and vice versa with an all rounder.

My 8 6" surf shape doesnt quite catch waves as easy as my 9 6" naish but nothing that would be a problem Because it is 1 ft shorter its a little bit harder catching fat waves, real waves are no problem.
As far as looseness and turning goes there is no way you could compare the 2, the surfshapes wins hands down, the things rip in the surf. When a few more of you guys who surf well (casso, piros, dog , other robbo etc) get to finally try a surfshapes it will blow your mind. Then they will be flavour of the month 10 out 10 board for me

I don't think he is talking about the brand but the actual board outline.

The answer is yes.

Depends on the wave.Generally a fuller wave is easier on an alrounder but a surf shape has it all over anything on hollower takeoffs. On a hollow taeoff it's all about acceleration from a standstill and the generally lighter surf shape has it all over the alrounder.Plus your options after takeoff are a lot easier with the surfshape wheras the only option for the alrounder is sideways along the wave.

yes I was talking about boards generally shaped for surfing not any particular brand - thanks for the answers - that's what I thought but I wanted to confirm.
thanks
