This is Ice E 125kg does that answer your question -

There are a number of boards you could start on like the Starboard 12'6 or the Naish 11'6. I think Ice started on the Naish.

Greenie,

I resemble that remark, no maccas for you from now on!!!!!!!!

Your back to eating that steamed tofu with lemon grass and drinking no fat lo fat soy wave the F$%#ing coffee past the rim of the cup but dont put it in cr@p.

Loosens all the fins on Greenies starboard and puts them in backwards.

And by the way I am a lump not a fat bastard

I hear the ULi board is a good board for fatties. Its inflatable so theres zero chance of snapping it.

Big guys need a pretty robust paddle too

Unfair - it's the guys first post and the best we can do is call him a fat bastard and mace him - The least we could have done is sent him here

Hey Chickenman...you're never too old, big or anything to do anything fun. Good for you for wanting to have a go. And go on you for posting your message here for all these smart bastards to answer

I have a friend in Hawaii that would be about 150kg's and he rides a 12' Laird. He surfs really well on it. And it's the same board in the photo that DJ posted of another good friend's brother in NZ.

I'm sure these guys will recommend a 12' this or that. You'll be great and you may even find you will lose a few kg's while out there having fun. Best of Luck and keep posting.

Tom Carroll came out on the same red Laird (borrowed, apparently) at Isos last autumn. One foot surf, only 2 of us out, he was snapping it around like it was a shortboard, as you'd expect from a former world champ.

Hey Chickenman,

115kg's is no problem you will be fine, as others have said just get a nice big surf capable board.

Surf Beach was my local as a kid, and I have SUP'd it once a bit south toward Golden Bay.

Initially somewhere like the bay at Avalon might be a good spot to catch a few if you have not ridden waves before? (or even Crystals or Dunger Island)

G'day Chickenman
There are several points to consider at that weight.
1. Big man = Big board
2. More paddling = smaller big man
3. 115 kegs = Automatic membership to Big Kahuna Club
4. 6foot 4 = Massive intimidation factor in lineup
5. DJ's censored pic = What tha
6. 65 kg Greenroom = Lunch at next Big Kahuna Convention
7. Get out there = Fun

Greeny weighing 65kgs, he must be dreaming. Unless that is with wet hair. If he didn't have that mop he'd be lucky to push 60kgs

110 kg is my fighting weight. I need to get down to that by August 15th for the 2009 Cape Cod Bay Challenge (from 124 kg now) and SUP is the best way to do it. No heavy change in diet...just eat a little less and healthier choices...not that hard to do. I lost 20 kg last year while training then foolishly switched back to eating too much and the wrong stuff....damn I love pizza and beer though...

I was feeling pretty good at the end of last years CCBC at 110kg...3rd from left.
