Shocked to receive a message from GT, Joels loving father this morning ,the local surfing community is in shock. Joel had his demons over the past couple of years but would always greet you with a smile and take time in the line up to stop and have a chat. Joel will be remembered for being a standout surfer from smashing the lip to hanging 5 with ease. He showed respect to me in and out of the water RIP Joel may you surf a life of left hand point breaks up there.
