Na bro not an old windsurfer unless its the "original windsurfer " otherwise the rocker is long flat on tail to be fast. Rails thick and boxy doesn't work - tried it with limited success unless it's small and weak waves!
Hire a foamie for a lesson board to get you consistently on your feet.
But a large 'nose riding ' board at 10'6 gives you great wave catchable board.
If you stick with surfing and getting better performance waves, you can be in for the 'ride of your life.' Then you start getting a couple of boards to cover your local conditions.
Or mtb, winging, kiting or windsurfing when it's not offshore
