Thanks Sean, I've just printed the entry form and keen to enter I take its not too serious on the comp front but a little heavy in the bar How many over 45's do you think will enter and would it be the same guy's that surf Little Maili regularly

Thanks for your post and keeping us informed with the latest.

Hi Mac,
Mostly guys that surf at Rainbow/Greenie are the starters.
There will be 2 - 3 heats of over 45's depending on no.s
We surf 3 rounds each & the winner is by points score.
Cheers

Hey big Sean, totally forgot my dates for the comp, working 24/7 lately
When I realised it was on it was to late to enter
I popped down yesterday and had a quick one around the corner ( it was crap ) then hit the BBQ and watched a couple of heats, tried to buy a comp tee ( all sold out ) Can you find a Large

I was going to say hi but man you were a man in demand so I hit the road.

Any chance of posting the results and which club is a good club that use Rainbow as home base, Table of Knowledge

cheers mac

Crusty Old Surfers Battle the Conditions at the Maili Masters.

Over 70 crusty old surf dogs, nearly 40 of them in the over 60's divisions, battled the northerly conditions and the arch enemy, blue bottles, at Pensioners Point, on the Gold Coast over the 5th & 6th of December. No matter how demanding the conditions were, it was noticed no one departed the contest early to go home and mow the lawn.
Not only were the competitors getting on in years but so were some of the boards. Cameron Byram turned up from Brisbane with two 50's style wooden surfboards one 14ft and the other 20ft. Not to be out done was John Standing who competed on a replica 1940's hollow board. It was John's first competition since 1973 and Camerons second ever contest.
In keeping with the nostalgia spirit of the event was a unidentified competitor who incured the wrath of livesavers for surfing in the patrol area during his heat. Apparently something that use to happen frequently in the 60's.
In the end there were some winners so we will mention who they are so they can have bragging rights for the next 12 months.
