Hi all, need some help,
my wife's first board is a McTavish 8 Ball 8'6
which hasn't been ridden for over 3 year's .
She has asked me to sell it for her, BUT I have no idea what its worth ... can you help me out with a price range ?
Would Pink board cover near on be collector item.. ?
Thank you in advance
Its a GSI with the old logo but in good nick.New from the factory they are worth around 1k so whack 650 on Gumtree and see how the market reacts. You can always come down if your not getting any interest but 650 is fair.
I have a custom 8'6" 8ball and they are a great board..a shrunk down Fireball
As Mac said yours is a popout type GSI model and probs worth around what he said $650.
Try eBay or Gummy starting around $700 neg
You've picked a bad time of year to shift it . Should have sold it in December .
+1
Nice looking board, would make a great traveller for smaller days
In the longboard world Mick we go bigger not smaller for the smaller days.
haha I agree mate & I hope to pick up something over 9'11 this year...wouldn't wanna travel with it though
If surfbroker thinks you will get 6 fiddy I can't argue as i rarely sell biards. In saying that peeps can buy a brand spanker of mac for $900 so it seems pretty exxy, and that much for a 10 yo gsi pop out I would say you are dreaming and its not going in the pool room
8ball is an awesome board model
$900 from mac......Oh..Mac..not McT as the Fireball model from him is around $1,650.
In good nick even a popout 8Ball is worth $600.
If you road a pop out for ten years there wouldn't much left of it. A Mc board will still deliver after 20 years. GSI boards have a markup at retail of 100%. I'd rather pay give the money to my local tradie mate.
My Mc has had $400+ repairs over its life and its 25 years old. Anyone want it for 6 fiddle.

I think if you read the op original post again it might help
It had not been ridden for 3 years, it was his wife's so I will make a big assumption and say it has hardly been ridden at all hence the good condition? Yes? Maybe
I would buy your 25 yo banger before I would buy a gsi , so you might be onto something
Surfbroker Bob has nothing to do with any business decision made at mct hq except for collecting a wage, and very smart business oeople profiting from his name... but you know that
Ok he's selling his missus board for a new arrow for his quiver. Probably has the original wax almost brand new. It's worth 6 fiddy.
If that was in Perth I would pay $650 for it tomorrow. I have had two McT GSI Fireballs and one is nearly 7yo and still in good nick (a little yellow and some deck compression around the back foot area - but it has been used a lot by a 115kg bloke ) sold recently it to a mate for $500 with bag and fins and he was stoked. It's now his daily driver.
For the record, I have had 5x GSI boards in all and all of them have done their job as well as any custom board I have ever had. In fact, my last two customs delam around the tail pad area after 3-4 years - I gave one to the neighbours kids and sold the other to a backpacker for $150.

Well someone at McT is making good boards

I have not read anywhere saying that they don't, so I guess I have missed your point.
Or were you talking about how good the handy Asian children are at pumping them out in unregulated slave labour factories ?
Some brands will always attract a higher resale value than others.
Very true

It was a daily ride for a number of years, then she gotta 7S Super Fish 8'0. On the v3 carbon model now ,as a daily n Bali board.
She is a McT girl n I don't see her giving up her 9'1 F1.
She's got her eye something new hence quiver shuffle
