Hey. Been out of the scene for too long. Looking at new boards. Can anyone recommend any good brands and tell if the Epoxy boards are any good.

Hi. Have you considered BIC Surfboards. I'm not sure of your surfing ability but they have 2 ranges. The ACS for beginners to intermediate. The ACS's are really tough. I've seen a demo by a BIC rep and he hit the board on a concrete path and there wasn't any damage.

The other range is the E-Comp which is an Epoxy Composite board - glass with epoxy resin over the top. They are more for intermediate to advanced riders.

Yeah heard great things about the bic noards too.
The firewire look too thin for my likings. havent heard anything about em.

Ask BB for advice. i agree with the local shaper that he's sure to send you to.
GREAT boards and he actually shapes them himself!
(sorry Mac)
am i breaking rule #1 again?

Have a 10' epoxy for sale cheap if you are not looking at spending much. pm me if interested

Ok - back on track. Hi and welcome mate. Epoxy boards (tuflite) are amazing - very light and durable and a huge array of shapes and sizes from the worlds best shapers. Also depending on how high performance you want to go you could also look at NSP/Walden in the GSI epoxy range.

I would say BEWARE of "SLX" epoxy as it's very very light and in my opinion you will not get sufficient life out of the board to justify the price tag.

I won't hide the fact that I love tuflite longboards and always have. I love the fact that you get so much more float and paddle speed and they are just so tough and dont depress up like poly boards, so they look good cosmetically longer and that also gives them better resale in many cases. You should also be able to find a surftech (tuflite) stockist in your area that will have demo boards on hand so its a great chance to try a few and see what you do and don't like in certain brands and shapes/sizes.

Yea that will make them last longer, one of my boards had 6oz on the deck and was indestructible and still light. How heavy is he at the moment?

Yes he still has some "filling out" to do before he can match his old man.

Looking forward to the Round 3. Not been much talk. Is everyone still keen
