Anyone had any success with this party trick? Turn board around (fins under you) and take off, stand up and the face catches the fins and you spin around as you take off. Tried it last night with bugger all swell and banks at a beachie. It looks fun and will be when I get the hang of it

Felt odd, almost pulled it off, Its a bit dicey on the backhand (Im natural stance) ended up taking a tumble with the board underneath me Hard to predict which way it will spin you as well. It put a "spin" on an otherwise average surf ha ha.

I have these dialled most of the time but I dare not do it on the sets. I'd rather not get the evils if I blow a set wave after calling everyone off. On the smaller fatter waves its nice to mix it up every so often.

I find back hand easier as you get to watch the board come around with you and you can see where your spinning too. When forehand your spin is blind.

I have actually mastered the more difficult manouvre of taking off normally and then completing the take-off with a reverse over the falls drop-in. Yes it is as painful as it sounds and have never landed one
For those that don't know me - I have a bit of a reputation for my late take-offs. I make maybe 60% and my mates just love the other 40% - why are people so unkind
