Hi there

I am looking to get a short board to add to my 9 ft, and 7'6", and doing a straw poll of seabreezers...... what have others got to cover those slightly bigger (by bigger i mean only a touch more than head high, any bigger and i am on the beach usually haha) steeper and faster running waves/days and bigger days on the beachies? Or for those days you feel less like cruising and gliding.....?

Not really after a hi performance mal but looking for something with more thickness, and width than a "performance" short board but not a traditional fish, in the low to mid 6 ft.

Was looking to have a chat with mr del rosso after all the good things that have been said to see what he has, thinks and price etc. can someone pm me his number or how I get on to him email etc. I can only seem to find the secret harbour number on the interwebs and I am on the east coast.

I have a Classic Malibu egg for those days, Horto. But I was in their shop at Noosaville the other day and saw their demo Camel... very nice...

I am sure Del Rosso will look after you, but if you decide you want something else again - the more boards you have the 'rounder' your quiver, i reckon - check out Classic Malibu's range. Good shop, nice people, good service, great boards -- and you can smell the resin from the factory next door. I'm not affiliated with them in anyway, I just like their stuff and their style. Cheers mate.

7'6 is already as short as I go so I can't help you there. I went thru a similar experience with Steve wanting a shorter board for bigger beaches. He was against going shorter and shaped me a 7fter that surfs like a 6fter but just a bit easier to paddle. I am really happy with this board for waves over bead high. I have another one cor small days.

Ask Steve about what he is riding in comps. I think it is around 7'4 "fun shape" and while he has a ton of ability, he still places in the top 3 on that board.

Agree classic mal is a true surf shop, I tried a couple of Mr Whites shapes before settling on a tea tree from noosa longboards....

Takayama scorpion with quad plugs and centre box.
The pulled in pintail holds in great.
The quad gives you good speed off the takeoff.
The concave under the nose works.
Subtle v bottom for easy rail to rail.
Its a quiver killing desert island board.
I've looked over the camel and its a good looking retro ride for smaller days
But the scorpion shape will cover more conditions, size range and moods imho.
You can get as progressive as you like when surfing it off the tail or ride it forward and trim for a cruisier time.
