It's been a long time since I was down there, but I can remember a nice little point wave at the south end of Mollymook, just under the golf club as I recall.

How far south Tux? There is a lot of coast down there! Right down near the border, Pambula has a great little caravan park on the beach, with fun waves out the front. A small walk to the rivermouth when bigger, will get you some of the best log waves ever! North of there Tathra is protected with small beachies and an excellent caravan park. South of Jervis Bay, Bendalong Point has a caravan park on the protected North side, but can get fun little ones in there, if not walk over to the South side to a more open beach, when it's small. Seven Mile Beach at Geroa, has a good caravan park on the beach and in smaller swells can be good, but can get very punchy.
Some of my favourites and of course, as obct said Mollymook is very good, but can get sizable. Have fun!

Given you are going with the boys and,
Depending on distance you want to travel, try:-
1. Green Island - Lake Conjola.
2. Lake Tabourie.
3. Broulee.
4. Sussex Inlet and surrounds.
5. Bendalong.
5. Gerroa - Seven Mile Beach.
6. North and South Durass.

All these spots have a variety of waves and also campgrounds.
Some have lots of other waves nearby.

I could tell you lots more but I would have to kill you.

Bendalong yeah surfed a bit there when i was working some summers up in perisher. Starts small then gets bigger the wider you go.

I found it to be a good fun wave . Turns to be had and constant/reliable.

Some awesome national parks down . I got shown around one day by a regular.

5.5 hrs trip each way most weekends

Ps there is south end bendalong too.

Mate if you've got kids I'd recommend camping at Tomakin. There's often a nice little wave out the front of the park well suited for kids, as well as a good longboard wave at the river mouth for yourself.... but if it's not on, there's about a dozen spots within 15 min north and south, facing all directions, so you're sure to find a small clean wave for the young fellas to have a paddle. Use your nose, you'll sniff one out.

The other benefit of Tomakin is there's a club a few mins walk away, so if it's pissing down rain and you want some shelter, or a good feed, or to watch the footy, you've got it covered.

A 3/2 steamer you'll be fine with... particularly if you're used to surfing VIC waters in the winter.
