sad to hear today of a 30 year old surfer drowning at marrawah on the west coast on the easter weekend

1 st drowning in living memory at this beach , still a bit of a mystery as to what happened ,conditions were not too bad and he apparently was an experienced surfer

could be a bit of a wake up call to the dangers of surfing alone

Yep sad story .

We were heading to that same beach Easter Sunday . But with the wind roaring and Rhonda not being designed aerodynamically to drive straight in a big cross wind we decided to give it a miss .

You don't see too many helmets in the surf, but they have become very common in snowboarding.

Have been thinking about one for a while Kadi ,
been smacked in the head twice by longboards in the last 12 months and last week had a 10 foot long 4 inch thick 666 fly past my noggin .
We all grab our helmets to jump on pushbikes but go out in the surf with no head protection .

Tassie, those who know me at all know that I would not judge anyone for being practical ahead of fashionable (eg surf hat, sunglasses tied to my rashie, etc) I think it is a great idea, but the helmet I have for skateboarding is less than inspiring
