Should it stay or should it go? With the UFO in my immediate future, will the 8' superfish be neglected or are there conditions more suited to one rather than the other?????

No Need for a SUP. I have already got an inflatable kayak for times when I have the urge to use a paddle

Yep Mac is right hang onto it, it will always be a good board for friends to use but once you start getting into the UFO you will go for that board every time

Got a decent offer already, don't forget I got it at a good price to start with.

But again, do you think there are any particular conditions that would suit one board rather than the other?

Mate there is definetly particular conditions that they are both suited to and a good surfer could use them both in 2 foot or 10 foot surf but you have to look at where you are with your surfing and concentrate on one board and one style IMO

Cheers boys. I might just keep it. The only reason I would sell it is to get the 7'3" Fish so I can cover a bigger range of conditions. GPA will be my guide

I'm going to disagree with Mac here

The 7s Superfish is quite a flat rockered board where as the UFO has a bit of rocker in it. I'm not sure of the exact details on the UFO but I think the stockies have a the thickness taken out of the rails. You may find conditions where you will prefer the flatter rocker of the Superfish so I would hang onto if you can.

If you need to sell it to fund the UFO so that is a no brainer, it needs to go. :) and the UFO will be be fine as a 1 board quiver.

Mate if you havent mastered the 8 footer yet then I think stepping down to a 7,3 would be a mistake

Keep it for when the crowds are out of control, strap on your kamakazi hat and GO!
That way you won't care if it gets a ding or two and you can still charge in heavy crowds.[}:)]

I'm with the majority - keep it - at least until you are certain you cannot progress your surfing any further on it... then perhaps consider the 7'3" if you are looking for something closer to a SB - or if you fall in love with the LB style of early take offs and long lines... then you could use it as a trade on your next board.

Whilst I like my 9'1" Fireball I will always grab the 7'3" as my go-to board... It just gives me what I want from a board on the waves I surf most often...

Was not going to buy the 7'3 tomorrow Boofy more wondering whether to waste the space storing the 8 footer if it is never going to be used.

But I think Danieli is right, spec are quite different, suitability for conditions will probably also be different.

Lockey, the way I have launched and ejected the fish out of the water while learning proves it is very durable, so it probably is a good fallback option anyhoo...... and of course for the occasional kamakazee run

IMO hang onto it. The UFO might be the board for you mate but while you're getting used to it you might get smashed here and there and if you have a "confidence" board you can go back to once in a while, then its gotta help with the transition.

I thought it would be the other way. Extra foot of board out front, harder to pearl, same volume so floats well, smoother lines. Think the UFO will quickly become the confidence board.

It will be interesting to see the difference in turning though. Fish turns easy just leaning to trim. Could be wrong but expecting the UFO might require a bit more back foot pressure and technique to turn???? Time will tell.

Hi guys 1st post . Been reading your posts for the last few months while pondering whether to grab a longboard or stick with the short board . Found some real interesting posts and some quite funny ones .
Kadilac I just bought my 1 st longboard a Glen Darcy 9 ft x 22 inches x 2 inches . My plan is to keep my 7 S fish for the bigger steeper days ( mine is 6 ft 7 and is a WMD ) and use the longboard on the gentler smaller days . Then down the track depending how the longboard experience goes I will grab a mid length board for the bigger days and just keep the fish for a bit of fun . Don't know if I could bring myself to sell the fish it's a real fun board .
Talking about fun we had an old bloke on a kneeboard out with us a few months ago . 1 st time I ve seen one in about 20 years but he was having a ton of fun on it . It's amazing how much speed those things can generate .
Anyway my advice is keep the board or sell it and grab some lappies with chrispy .either idea sounds good

Welcome mate. Just a Q, have you jumped back on your shorty lately? Have you noticed your turns are much more drawn out and improved after surfing a longboard? Just something I have noticed. Keep the other board Kads, worse comes to worse imagine if you snap the UFO. What would you do then!
