Dunno about you lot, but I've fantasized about living off the land & ocean on a remote island. I've also dreamt of building my own home...just watched this over lunch & these people have done it...even got a nice left out the front by the looks of it. Looks like a good series to watch

Been watching myself, but why would you choose an island with no waves

I thought I saw a left peeling in the background when the kid was sailing his dingy.

Yep nice glassy arvo & that lefts peeling through nice...you see it at least a couple of times before that with a bit of a cross shore on it, but you can see the potential. I think low tide was running in the morning when they filmed this & the wave works better on a high(er) tide

Love that clip Weiry, I posted it in the recommend music thread a few months ago...original song/video is awesome too

I'm interested in the story Mick but when I click on the link it sends me to download some app from the government channel.

Just checked that link in a different browser (Internet Explorer) & it was ok. There is a green square with a white arrow you click for play, then there is a 15 second ad for abc tv before the show starts.

If that fails, try going to iview.abc.net.au/
& in the search box, "find a program"
copy/paste "Kevin McCloud's Escape To The Wild"

Otherwise you might need to install or upgrade Abobe Flash in order to play the video which can be done here;
get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

If you watching on your iphone / ipad Scotty just download the Iview App - then you can watch almost any ABC stuff whenever you want optimised to the screen size of your device. Alternatively just search on youtube - loads of bootleg versions out there for instant free viewing !

Wasn't too envious of the jungle lifestyle. They have no funds behind them they said so the next generation are just dirt poor subsistence farmers in a third world land. Whoops.

Reminds me of my idea of camping on the Beach in Kauai'i... West Coast, so remote... Nearest main coastlines are Japen, China, and Australia...

Watched the final episode last night, Sweeden. It's been a great series and certainly gets you thinking about work/life balance and priorities.

Big thanks for the heads up Mick.

Agreed, quite like the Kevin MccLeod "man made home" series too... i'm totally on that band wagon, knocked back a bloody huge pay-rise to move to the Sydney rat-race for work but definitely prefer the quiet life... life before work always i say

Yeah I love these kinda shows too. Only like modified existing house plans for a build myself, but would love to build a tropical shack. Just a lot harder these days...awesome to see people getting out there & fullfilling their dreams...good on 'em
