^^That was just b4 they paddled out, the boat they were on was dropping off supplies to another island so 5-6 guys surfed here for 3hour with out another boat or person paddeling out, he said the crowds in general wernt that bad. I will post a few more if I get time today

Yeah Ive been speaking to a couple guys who run boats out there and they have said numbers have been down this year. I guess because of the financial crisis. Sounds good to me (low numbers in the water), I just hope its the same in September as well....please!

While on the other side of the spectrum Bali has been mad with numbers. With the new compeditors in the airline market resulting in mega cheap flights, has seen numbers in the water through Bali some of the craziest of all time.

no wonder, hows those Garuda pilots, they wake up look out the window.. farrrk were here.. then do the 90 degree landing... everyones reaching for their imaginary handbrakes screamin,..and then they all clap because he pulls it off ?, f`n scary... lol.

Hi boy's hows it going

I've been reading this threat with interest. I sure hope we will be treated with bucket loads of photos.I never knew they had beach breaks in the Mentawais.

Hey Mac, all good over here in shortboards, Pitstops is a reef break what you can see is the beach at the front. Dont worry got new Nikon to get some happy snaps with. By the way hows the Mctavish going?? hehe [}:)]

Mentawis looks awesome.
Great shots.
I tried my damnedest to get out there about 10 years or so ago but it was so expensive and the travel was arduous so ended up in and around Nias instead.

Hope you score it good.

Leave for Bali on the 24th Sept land in the wave park on the 26th for 12 days in pardise, I would love sumone to carry my boards thu the airport I hate doing that. Have a coffin with wheels now tho.

So we got back. Awesome time. Swell went from 2 foot to solid 6 foot. Scored epic (best for 2 months) Macca's. Surfed 8 breaks, mostly lefts. 3 broken boards and a few coral cuts amongst 10 of us. Take 4 pairs of boardies, a towel, a t-shirt and benedine.
Never used longer than 6'4''.
Keep up the fluids, smile in the line-up, wear booties on the low tide, pull-in and remember every moment.
Awesome place!

Sounds like you had it off mate, my mate who came back a few weeks ago used a 6,2 most of the time. All tho he opened up his head on the reef on the second last day not to bad but enough to keep him out of the water..

4 weeks to go for me, wooooooooooot!!
