So North Point is a back-up spot but spectators aren't allowed. They want spectators to stay at surfer's point and watch on the big screen. I find it a bit strange to go to the site of a live event which is broadcast on a big screen from 20km away.
Still, better than no North Pt. Hopefully it's pumping!

5m and off shore? North Point will be pumping.
But send them out to Margie's main and let them surf man sized waves in a manly way on man sized boards. Why run to a bay that is half the size?
i guess it comes down to do you prefer Sunset or Pipeline.
Agree stay away from north point like right away the car park is designed for 10-15 cars tops there are no dunnies and there will be rubbish everywhere.
surf Margaret river like men
Contoversial statement and I am ready for the retort:
growing up I thought parko was the king but when I seen him burning people behind a jet ski at snapper/Kirra he went down a peg or two from God status.
than he said Margaret river is a b grade wave..........
b grade???? Really?????
Why not wait for it to be big enough to hold at North point than run it at the box instead???? You want entertainment and the pros want a grade waves done deal
^ I like Box and it is second for back-up. But box and the main site are exposed. Whereas the bay can handle some wind.

where will the women surf?
but actually I cant wait for a big day for the pros at mainbreak, but one of those days with those big steep walling lefts, not the fatty lefts
if anyone remembers Mark Warrens Altas of Australian Surfing - Tom Carroll on a big left at Mainbreak - I reckon that would be the point of difference for Margarets from any other venue on the WSL this year. Big powerful open lefts that have room to turn.....not many that aren't takeoff barrels...
I seen some of the footage today.. Seabass barrel was delightful...
i also feel feel however a little part of the mystery of down south was destroyed and two breaks were shut down and a part of my happy places soul was stolen by the WSL....
there had better not be a single piece of rubbish or plastic or crap anywhere from the hill to the jump rock........
i urge anyone who who lives here to go and take multiple photos post event.
i was there a couple weeks ago I seen a bungarra half a dozen big coastal skinks some little monitor style lizard and half a dozen birds chillin.... All within 3 paces of the top car park

Personally, not particularly interested in pro-surfing.
But if you are going to hold it, why not put it on in challenging waves.
I jsut watched the Josh Kerr and Bede Burbidge Round 2 heat. The boys were scratching over the sets that had some wicked waves. Josh was behind and in prime location but didn't go. Crazy. Not saying he was scared, just he had some other plan that didn't work.
