hey
super rad dude I know says he's moving to Perth
I stopped laughing after 5 min cause i realised he was serious.
And then he asked me where abouts in Perth should be move to still be able to surf.
needs to be metro.
the only time i surfed in Perth was 25yrs ago on some surf comp that happened at night in like 30kt winds. we all hung behind this groin and hassled for 1ft wind chop that was throwing spray like razor blades.

any help would be much appreciated

Yeah, City Beach. The year round go-to spot.
Was looking at the Greenmount can the other day. There is nothing like it on the west coast.

Sadly after 40yrs of surfing in Perth metro breaks, I can confirm that there is basically only poor surf from November to late March. If there is a rare day where the wind, swell and tide aligns, then you will be sharing it with 200 of your best 'soft-topper' mates...

No matter what your mate will be disappointed. To get quality you need a boat. Plenty of island and outer reefs to explore.

Metro beaches are packed and although can be surfed many days of the week on average they are low quality waves compared to the other regions of the big state. Its a bit easier if you have grown up in Perth and your a bit of a frother otherwise your sure to be dissapointed.

That said northern beaches are the go

I think Perth would have the highest ratio of poor waves vs crowds in the country
Literally hundreds fighting over backwash close outs
Sad but true
Tell your mate to find another interest and not to be surfing regularly

The light at the end of the tunnel is the wave pool
It can't come soon enough
