Unless some fully pro annual surf contest, everyone should ignore surf contests in my opinion. I've seen way too many good waves go to waste due to surf comps. They have permission to hold a contest, not own the break exclusivly, don't be fooled....get out there, challenge them. Show a little respect, sit wide & if a waves gonna go unridden....GO...

TBH they were some of the nicest and fairest people i have ever surfed with..I was stunned. Yes i didn't surf the big name spots as it was huge. I saw one guy (boogie boarder) with his windscreen punched in, apparently he dropped in once at pipe then twice and was told off. Did it again and was sent to shore. One local followed and gave him a talking to. Upon the bloke driving out in his car he yelled some abuse, another local next to his car punched in his windscreen..SO three drop ins and mouth full i think the guy exactly what he deserved.

The point was he than had to drive around with a broken screen, no one on the island will fix it and everywhere he goes to surf, the local grape vine tells of his transgressions. All seems really fair to me
