What I know about foils is from reading about them.
You might need to reinforce a deep tuttle box to take a hydrofoil.
The race kite foils are designed to go fast and are smaller and higher aspect ratio. Slightly larger versions are used by kiters in low wind with very powerful 18m ram-air kites. Race foils can be pumped onto a plane to help them start earlier - as you can see in this video - and that should apply to light wind freeride foils too.
Horue now have a bigger XLW freeride front wing to make the starting speed a bit lower. You can see from the shape of the wing that they are trying to move the centre of lift forwards, to keep the board balanced while using the normal fin box position.

This is a video of Alex Aguera foiling with a 3.7m sail on a Starboard Supersonic, which he may have chosen because of the deep concaves, which cushion the impact when touching down on the water. He is using his own make of hydrofoil, which is normally his freeride foil for kiting. You can see he is repositioning the finbox and straps.
The Makofoil is another foil which has some history of successful windfoiling.
