Great video Roland, he has an interesting style, flagging the sail, similar to wing foiling.

He's seems to be able to defy physics and kill power without it flagging downwind. When I flag, the clew swings out down wind.

I think it's 1) he rides a very flat sail and 2) he throws it back to his back hand. I've tried to do that and failed. (Not dissimilar to most of the foiling things I've tried.)

The video was actually from yesterday. Today the swell was considerably bigger. I took a beating.

Thanks for posting the vid - stoked to see froth from other places
Looks like you have a decent windswell build up on the Gulf.

Def an alternative method of downwinding - Casey on the Great Lakes also seemed to prefer that style (not sure if he's still windfoiling).
I've seen Thomas rip a few downwinders here doing the same thing, tho he tends to use bigger sails.

A characteristic of the North Wave is that it almost completely de-powers when off the wind or at least more so than any other wave sails I've used.

You need a few days of wind to get the big swells on the sea of cortez, but they can get huge.

Casey was one of my inspirations early on. Power carves, flagged out glides or Gwarns combo flow its all awesome

Awesome footage and sailing! Looks like fun! Thanks for filming and posting thedoor!

Hey Gwarn, I see ya upgraded the foil mast, right on! You still rocking 790 or are you trying any other front wings?

I know you two are neighbors but with Mr. Keen and others I'm sure it is a riot to think that there are folks from different continents sailing at La Ventana and the know each other from an Australian watersport's forum!

I'm riding the Phantasm PTI 730 with the sab 430 stab.
Moses 115 mast

It's like riding a beach cruiser in a skateboard park.

I tried other wings but I like the super low stall speed it goes with my winging style riding especially when the swell gets bigger.

There's quite a few wind foilers here.
Does the guy up in my neighborhood that rides a slingshot shred sled with no straps or harness flagging the whole time. Carving it up.....

As far as the north sail it is the most gutless flat cut sail I've ever used. But it is the dream sail for my style of foiling

A true float and ride wave sail.

I bought a second generation North Sail and completely hate it as it's now a power Wave sail with a huge draft in the bottom which makes it impossible to get rid of the batten pop on the bottom batten which is a deal breaker for me.

Sunrise this morning out my front door.
Foilers Paradise.....
