They do misalign the holes on the board from time to time. The solution is to use a drill (or small file) to oval out the hole of the board in the direction for the bolt to fit through.

don't fret about removing material from the hole. The box is a solid piece, so the board won't leak.

My solution would be to sell the Starboard and buy a Moses foil.
Seriously though, if you have access to another foil or two I'd bolt others on to see if it's the board or the foil that's misaligned before I started drilling. Once determined I'd then see if you can get it replaced as a manufacturing defect.
This stuff is to expensive to settle for sub par products.

Normally id agree with checking, but the starboard foils are mass produced, with moulded parts that are fitted together at the factory. That coupled with the fact that it wouldn't be the first jp i've seen where the holes are wrong, I can almost guarantee its the board holes that are wrong.

while its disappointing that they didn't get it right, unless its completely wrong, i'd take the half hour of inconvenience over a loooong wait. Especially with all the shipping delays/back logs at the moment.

are you sure that it's just the holes in the wrong position?
it could be that the barrel nuts need rotating to align the threads to the direction of the foil bolts..as I had to do that with the 85 carbon mast

Yeah, that's a good point, worth having a look down through the holes on the foil to make sure you can see thread all the way round

I tried to attach a starboard traditional fin (tuttle box) and it fits perfectly on the JP Hydrofoil 135 board (of course there is a gap inside the box but the fin is well fixed). So, I decided to overlap both the foil and the fin with the bolts and that's it, the bolts and the barrel nuts of the foil must be rotated.
Happens that the front bolt/nut can rotate and be completely tightened. Also the rear nut can rotate (as expected) but above the nut there is a steel plate with a round hole that drives the screw to the upright position preventing it to rotate (there is the same plate above the front nut but the driving hole is ovalized alowing some rotation of the bolt).
Now I can fit the foil's mast head in the board's box and tight the front bolt. For the rear bolt I need to ovalize about 3-5 mm the rear hole of the board to allow the bolt to get in in the vertical position and then hopefuly the problem will be solved

Any feedback on how well the JP works with the freeride plus foil? I have the jp 120 which has the straps quite far back similar to the 135 and worried I won't be able to keep the nose down.
I have been using a starboard supercruiser with the JP 120 and JP 135 which works really well together. I now want something a little bit faster. I also had a similar issue fitting the foil but drilled out a few mm on the foil head to allow the screw to hit the barrel but at the correct angle.

Quick update I have been using the starboard freeride plus with the JP 120 for a couple of sessions now. Very pleased with it and I feel it works well together so far the shim at -1.5 works best need to try the -2 to see how it works. My speed is edging up from the supercruiser.
