I've fixed the link...check it out: http://www.pastafrescaseasportscentre.com.sg/seasports.html and click on "memory lane" for some great photos.
This fantastic place is going to lose it's lease and be closed down at the end of April after more than 25 years....it's bad enough that the Singapore government hangs people, but THIS.... this SUCKS....
This really is sad news. I grew up windsurfing here for 5 years and it truly is a magical spot - great for groms with no wheels as you can leave your gear rigged on the beach and catch the bus there from anywhere in Singapore.
This has also been the site of many legendary parties over the years.
being able to windsurf all day long and step off the beach and straight into an open air bar with a cold beer in your hand (no age restrictions on drinking in Singapore) is a truly magical experience.
Pasta Fresca (or the East coast windsuring centre as it used to be known) will be sorely missed.
I would just like to add that the lagoon behind the soon-to-be-closed windsurfing club has had a giant cable-ski apparatus built on it, so wakeboarders and *spit* kiters can practice going round and round in circles on their boards for $30 an hour. Yippee. Man that kneeboarding looks really cool.
Bro, it's just too good...you can keep 2 or 3 sails fully rigged and a couple of boards on standby, just take your pick, tighten the outhaul and downhaul and GO! GO! GO!
