I've gone the other way using a 430 in a 7m Gator that is 462 luff and it's bloody tops. So not concerned about curve but might be about cams. You're moving the whole mast by 30cm so the dia will be different where cams sit. I doubt it will be bad as if anything they'd be looser not tighter (?) but I would rig it and try before buying
Hi Mark,
What sort of conditions are you using your 7m gator in? What size board are you pairing it with?
I've seen one for sale but I just can't justify it..... but I want it cause I'm a hoarder.
Sorry I missed that
kinda 16-20kn on my 120L fsw
No problem. I think you are rather busy all the time, so I really appreciate the answer.
I bought it...
Just trying to hold onto the windsurfing feeling before I have to go back to SUP and surfing.
I did find the rigging a little strange. Using 430 gorilla and an Aeron 46cm (set to 36cm) boom 200cm. severne spec: Mast 460, ext 5, boom 195cm. It rubs on the mast sleeve caused by the bottom batten. It has a hole forming (from the previous owner), already through the outer webbing.
I tried 2cm more downhaul --->> huge amount of loose leech and batten not touching mast
I tried more outhaul ---> a very flat sail, but battern not touching
I tried taking the battern tension off and then back on just to remove creasing, no change
The previous owner is also selling their 460 mast (same auction site), so I presume they were using it with the recommended mast, so that rules out my short mast and longer extension being the problem.
I do remember years ago that I was using a 7.5m gator at a hire shop, and it had a repair at that same spot, and the bottom batten did scrape against the mast. It is just something to deal with when it comes to the larger-sized freeride sails?
Does your one have the same problem?
