From what I hear, Victoria (Melbourne) will be giving you the best wind at the moment. Down here we've been getting 15-30 knots some days with almost zero on other. I am unsure how the northern states are at the moment but they were having a lot of dead days.

I would suggest (if you haven't already), posting this question in the kite forum, then they could give you a run down of the best places for kitesurfing.

Good luck with your trip here, hope you have an awesome time.

Why only one kite?

We see this question posted often from windsurfers as bringing an extra board, mast and sails is a big deal, but taking 2 kites not 1 doesn't seem to be a major big deal to me?

Given the fact you will cover 2000km of coast the conditions will vary greatly so I'd bring the second kite

Yeah thanks for all your help (mark) am coming over with my girlfriend so if I was to be kiting most of the time she would be going mad haha, so am just looking to get out on the water some time.
Is their many places I could hire the gear from?
(Leman) yeah I'll post it in the kite forum I thought I did sorry .
