Hello All, firstly thank you for the entertainment that it the Seabreeze forums. After a number of months enjoying the banter I have finally succumbed and need to ask some questions. Before doing such I should probably give you all a brief background:
AlphaCompany consists of me, a hot wife and two groms.
Started windsurfing back in 1998 on Mistral hire boards at Peli point on the Swan River. Back when crowds were nothing and Perth was still a country town. Back and forth from Perth and finally settled in Brisneyland.
Finally bought a new kit last year. Bic Techno Board, Starboard Start Board, 5.7 Sail, and all the associated crap.
Still don't get enough time because the groms are too young. The eldest does cruise around on the front of the Start though.
Currently (when I can get time) cruise between Redcliffe and Noosa but will hopefully hit the southside later this year.
Skill level? Beginner. Intermediate when left for a week with nothing but my kit and camper trailer...
DVD Reviews (Reviewed in order of purchase):
Learning to Windsurf - Alan Cadiz. Great instructional DVD. Where nothing improves you more than being on the water, I found that being able to go back to this DVD helpful.
FWD Hawaii - Sensational. Any docu that can make me re-evaluate my position on this great big marble, subsequently chuck in my job, take less money and concentrate on something other than work has something going for it. I now enjoy 35 hour weeks and have no business card. When people ask what I now do, I reply "I'm a dad".
Red Bull Storm Chase - After waiting so long I thought the Red Bull Storm Chase was a little overrated and entirely too short. For 50 bucks I did expect more.
Wild Tracks - Crap. Crap. Crap. Way over priced for what amounted to less than an hours worth of footage. I wouldn't mind betting that the windsurfing program that transmitted out of Perth last year was done on a far smaller budget and was a far more superior end result.
Ocean Flow (Book) and Drive (DVD) - Book - too small with way too much rambling at the start. Flow this and flow that. Best thing about this book was it was done in WA. The highlight were the shots from Esperence... should have stayed there when I had the chance... Coffee table book my butt, it's a friggin coaster. DVD - Jury is still out.
The windsurfing Movie - Brilliant. Cool soundtrack. Sounds Cliche, but I wanted to cruise straight out after watching it. As usual, there was no wind, so I went out to finish working on my kids first surfboard.
Kit Reviews:
I'm friggin beginning again!! It's all good!! Size does matter though, the Start has been priceless.
And that's me (us). I've got a couple of questions but to keep the threads and answers separate I'll post new messages.
Thanks for reading,
AlphaCompany Out..
