Is it a sand jam or is it corroded? Air compressor for sand, WD40 for corrosion.

I rinse and remove each session so think it must be a sand or rock jam. where do you shoot the air?

Around the button edges while jiggling the button. Had a NP ext with the tiny button and that always jammed up. Eventually cracked it and bought a Chinook. They work even when full of sand.
Is there any movement in the button ?

Soak with WD-40 using the straw to get inside crack around button and outside where euro pin goes in, let drain upside down overnight to displace water, pull apart next morning.

Ended up being able to slide aluminium section off (hope i didn't break it lol) and there was a small pebble blocking the button.

Must have gotten in through a height adjustment pin hole, or through euro pin hole in bottom? Maybe get some ~1\2" thick dense closed cell foam and make a round plug for inside plastic bottom part of mast base, push down until it bottoms out on the purple euro pin catch, that would prevent it from happening again.

Or cut a round disk from a plastic milk/water/vinegar 1 Gal container slightly larger than the opening, and push it down to the purple retainer.

The easiest would be to use some Gorilla tape to cover the opening on the topside of purple clip.

^^^^^
I would not do that.
Any sand that gets in , and it will , won't be able to get flushed out .

If you only use Gorilla tape to cover the small gap where the pebble got stuck you should not have a problem flushing out sand from the bottom, same true for using foam or plastic to cover the whole opening on the topside, just flush out from bottom-side with garden hose.

We know without anything covering the gap that a pebble can get stuck in it, seems like sand would have a much more difficult time blocking the movement of the button.

Never got the " Please drink responsibly " Adverts.
What if you wanted to get really smashed and saw that advert, would you change your mind and think that you'd better not.
