A clip from late spring in a fun 16-20 knot nor-easter. Crowded for SWR's standards- 4 out. No waves just some nicely powered runs, a few fun jumps and good company

Yeah, on the 111. Stoked with this board, great for wind up 20 odd knots.

Nice one Phil. You're sailing really well . Beautful weed free water. Envy . My local is very weedy at the mo.

Cheers for any comments Just trying to piece it all together, only just starting getting my gybes under some sort of control- bloody hard things! Tacks are going ok- and handy in the wind shadow near the shore. Still so much to learn...

2035, shoot up one day. Definitely a fun place to sail- especially when there's a few decent waves rolling. Near dead flat in the clip.

Nice video as always Phil. Was great catching up with you the other day and hope we can have a longer session next time. I'll make a quick video of my footage and post up. I only followed you once before we came in as my other run was rather selfish across the bay to see if I still have what it takes to battle the open ocean.
Cheers

Mate i've been trying to pull off gybes for ages. Could do left turn but fail 98% 99.9% right turns. I did the Guy Cribb intuition at a spur of the moment. Best thing i ever did. I'm no master but i'm pulling gybes off left and right... well most of them. My percentage has improved immensely. If you get the chance do the course or get the video. And a little practice you'll be plaining out of your gybes.

Hahaha. Felt like it too - wasn't fun on the slalom gear. Pity the storm loomed large to spoil the fun. You made it out in time and I ended packing up in the rain.
Cheers
Marty

Edit - Just found my track.

Here is a quick clip with Phil in it. There was only 1 run where we were together. Sorry if it bores some but it's truly a great place to windsurf.
Cheers
Marty

Sweet Nothing boring about watching windsurfing clips! Great to see the place from someone else's perspective. So cheers for that Marty. Hope you get out for another run soon.

PhilSWR & MartinF2 - can I ask what gopro mounts you guys use? If head mounted, doe it get in the way (expecially when water starting)?

A friend and I are thinking of filming each other's sailing so that we can review the footage and see what we are doing wrong with our gybes and technique.

Hey GrumpySmurf,

Not sure about Marty, but I simply have a standard Gopro stick-on base mount glued onto the front of my helmet. And yes it's in the way at times. Not water starting, but when carrying the rig to and from the water. Others I know side-mount them. View looks fine, and not so much in the way.

Good luck with the footage. Bit of a pain to edit, but great to sit back on a windless day and watch you and your mates having a blast.

PS- I actually glued the base mount on with Sellys Quik Grip as I didn't trust the adhesive pad supplied. And tethered the unit to the helmet with cord.

Like Phil said but I have a vented helmet strap from Gopro. I like the view from you head as you can look around and follow others where other fixed mounts are one dimensional. It has it's drawbacks - You have to be aware it's on there when the sail is overhead but I've never had a problem water starting. I've bumped it a couple times beach starting but the biggest problem is not being able to pop the sail on you head to carry gear. I basically head to shore and take the helmet off and put it on the boom between the harness lines (top side) and carry my gear no problems from there.
Let us know if you have any more questions.
Cheers
Marty

Hi Phil, lovely spot south west rocks. Although I live in Melbourne, I know it well. My wife's family is from kempsey. Have been there a few times from Christmas in the past and always wanted to bring my surf gear, but was always a bit hard with family etc.

Next time I will revel up there will make sure I bring my gear.
