I'm hoping my family can come to play in the sand while I'm out on the water. With a sun sensitive wife (Lupus) we need a sun canopy or shade with room for a couple of young kids to play. I'm generally out on 15-30knot winds. Has anyone come across shelters that can cope with that sort of wind?

Got one of these family size years ago. Still going strong.
Fill the sides with sand and put the out riggers on, open the back to allow the wind to go through and you will be sail and the family will be protected and having fun happy holidays.

Tried that many years ago. Quickly discover windsurfing and family on the beach don't mix. Go windsurfing, go windsurfing. Family time on the beach, no go windsurfing.
Strangely, the family's patience getting sand blasted and holding down a tent quickly wears thin.

Make sure you get the family as suggested. You need the floor the most important part. We have had many and if you can get the one with windows get it much cooler. But the suggestion not to take family is important. Keep it short as you have a long way to go I assume. Many years. this summer I will be carrying 6 boards one for each person and gear. S____ loads. The hole family and 2 old cancer Councle tents one for sleeping the other for family
