Got all excited last night, packed the car looking forward to a day trip up the coast for a sail.
Met a mate at Canton looking forward to the 20 knots that was supposed to come through.
What was supposed to be a great day was crap. Sat around for 40 minutes and then drove all the way home again. So 2 1/2 hours of driving and a near ticket from an unmarked XR8 was all I got.
Wind never got over about 8 knot for 5 minutes and that was that.
Bugger winter, bring on spring

We were the same. Big day trip out to Kurnell for the 15-20 W/SW and were greeted with 5 knots from the SE.

Couldn't have been better at Wello! [}:)]
Predicted 15-20 decreasing 10-15 in the morning and increasing at night; was great since 9am, and perfect from 1030 onwards!

Even had a kiter and windsurfer off Seabreeze come and introduce themselves! [}:)]
You know who you are lol

Oh well. If the forecast is inaccurate that means we should get good winds tomorrow

It was so strange today. I saw my wife off at the airport and down there in the morning there was a reasonable westerly blowing. We saw one guy with a Neil Pryde sail sailing at Foreshore Drive. They have fenced off most of the foreshore now.

I arrived at Narrabeen in the afternoon. A lightish westerly was blowing. It died and then the wind swung to the south east. It got up a bit and then hovered around the 1 to 5 knot mark. Almost like a summer day except colder.

Not sure where that south easter came from as it wasn't forecast at all.

Yeah it didn't eventuate down here in the gong either :( My prediction is it will be windy early tomorrow. The crack of dawn calls. The surf is on the rise so hopefully we get some nice S/SE winds!

Ended up cleaning up my apartment, so sounds like I didn't miss much. It looked promising at about 8:30 this morning.

Yep Moby, Foreshore is even worse now. Went for a sail there on Thursday. They have even fenced off the walkways all the way down to the water...... Had to rig up on the sand and unrigged in the water so my sail wouldn't get caked in sand

Bring on summer indeed!

HTFU!

Hey we were over at what I think is Little Bay, it would be a good sail there in a westerly.

I found forecasts were accurate in Australia up to about 1993. Before that, you could set your watch on the winds that were forecasted in the summer, even in the winter with flaky westerlies. Then wind patterns started shifting - fewer predictable northesters in Sydney, etc., and predictions started falling apart.

Same here in the Great Lakes area: predictions don't work no more, usually not even close. Kingston here used to be the mecca for fresh wind. It's dead now.

Somethin's happenin' with the planet...

We had a decent 30 - 45 minute session before it dropped off. We tried again when it looked like it was picking up again, but it didn't last

At least the fence seems to have got rid of all the "Meerkats"
