Hi All,
Recently decided to build my own board, I'm interested in trying my own build technique and am not qualified to try shaping so asked Mike from Blue Juice Boards to do the honors.
After much discussion the shape was agreed upon: a twin fin, Mike started with his standard rockerline, single concave to slight vee shape and standard rails and used an outline I supplied.
I took my outline from a 2001 88l acid and added about 20mm to the max width and shortened it to 2400 by squaring off the nose and pulling the rails in a little. I kept the swallow tail and pinched the rails in to it.
Mike shaped the prototype from blue foam and it was spot on
www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?imageid=6969 I added some shaping to the deck in an attempt to create extra stiffness through form.
Glassed the blank with a single skin mixture of e-glass and carbon uni and faired with Q-cell/fumed silica bog and lots of sanding (

)

) so I asked Mike to test the board at Scabs last week.
I added a review thread about the board's performance

So next step is to take a mould off the prototype. (It currently weighs 7.2k with fins and straps.)
Then i can build the real thing properly, should be able to reproduce production board weights when building into a mould.
By the time i've done all that I should be fully recovered!!!
