Does anyone know of any webpages that cover carrying your gear? As in up and down the beach. I have a dodgy back and a few other wear and tear issues and always have to separate my rig and board when coming back up the beach. I'm hoping for some technique tips that might enable me to get it up all at once with ease.
You are probably better off sticking with what you are doing. When carrying the lot on your head you have to make adjustments for gusts or slight wind shifts and if you don't make them quickly you end up putting a fair amount of twisting strain in your back to get it all lined up again to keep going.

+1 I carry in one piece if the conditions are favourable with wind direction etc, but have no hesitation in separating if I need to negotiate a narrow path, or if the wind is swirling or blowing a bad direction etc.
The reason I'm asking is I'm probably going to have to move to a place where windsurfers access the water via this specially constructed ramp. There's no beach to lay your gear on, you have to come up the ramp gear in hand and walk across some dirt to the grass. There's no where to separate your gear before taking it up.
Now me beeing a novice, I would walk down the board drop it at the edge of the water a little up the ramp, get the sail and stick it all together in the water.

LOL
Nah, there some boulders under the water there and a little chop when the wind's up. Your board would get trashed.

Do it other way around, take the sail down and pretty much submerge it, then dash up to get your board. Otherwise you end up with a rig sitting by itself which is going to fly away one day.
