Ok. Rant on.

wtf. Why is wwt media coverage so ****! Like how hard is it to focus energy on stuff that counts rather than stuff that is just fluff..

for example. I have pages and pages of feeds of competitor interviews but nowhere can i find whats actually going on with the event… is it on hold? Waiting for better conditions, is it finished.

seems every event wwt run it’s the same. I gotta go through multiple pages from wwt or pwa to actually find out whats going on. What is the point to spending all that time on media fluff when viewers just tune out because they can’t find where the event is at.

Don’t get me started on results. Usually i find out thd results by looking at the competitors personal facebook page. Are we that woke that it’s impossible to actually wrap up events or celebrate events with the posting of results on the wwt facebook page as soon as they are known.

so wissant event, i’m done. Sick and tired of making time to tune in to nothing. It takes infinitely less time to post an update on where the event is at then hours of ****ing interviews.

fwiw, i’m a hardcore consumer of this stuff. And you’ve lost me. Hope someone associated with these events reads this and pauses for thought.

rant off.

I suspect it's a cost issue. Developing a framework and producing content for it requires a structured approach and ideally by a core team to deliver it. All that is expensive. From what I understand most of the WWT events are staffed by volunteers.

But I agree that it's frustrating to try and get the most basic info on what's happening at the events from a competition point.

I dunno, feels like it’s by design. Been the case for multiple seasons now. I don’t think they are trying to cater for the spectators but more for the competitors based on the publicity.

it takes time to shoot competitor vids and edit then post. Takes less time and cost make a post on facebook and pin it to the top. So not sure it’s s cost thing.

Specific to the Wissant event I looked on Facebook and every day there is an update saying “no wind, doing other stuff”.

Ok so i found the updates. There are videos on the wissant facebook page. Interestingly i had no idea there was even a wissant page. But there you go.
do i really need to watch a bunch of Facebook videos to get an update? That aside, the video is posted after the day has occurred. That’s right you are watching wrap ups not event info. Am i going to stare at a screen for 8 hours waiting to find out nothing happened. Where is the running description on whether things are on hold or when is the event postponed to. As an aside i don’t have this issue watching wsl events. Their communication is excellent.

facebook has limitations. For starters posts disappear from the front page and this gets worse the more fluff posts that get made. There are so many simple, cheap ways they can address these things. But they don’t. it’s been a complaint for years now.

Anyways i’m done. I’m tapping out of wissant. Time go windsurfing.

This is what I meant with "a framework for producing content". You need a templated process that each event can easily follow to produce and publish content to consistent output channels ideal with the World Windsurf Tour web site as the central hub.

At the moment if you go to the World Windsurf Tour web site there is no link to the event web site (aka Facebook page). Instead you have two options:
1) go to the event section which just lists every single WWT event. Apparently 70+ in September alone.

2) go to the "follow the action" (watch) page on the web site to get access to the elimination ladder and broadcast stream. However there is zero reference to the Facebook page or Insta feeds. The elimination ladder also seems only randomly be updated.

For the Hawaii event is was so bad I only found the event web site because someone sent me the link.

That's why I mostly stopped watching these events live and just skip through the highlights video after the event is over.

I know just how you feel, I do the same, is it on, is it not on, what time is it on. then I just give up, thinking it will pop up on YouTube at some point but no, where are the highlight videos of the actual action, Fiji, just long streams, maui same, at least at some point get someone to edit together a 5 - 10 min video of the good stuff.
