wow... that was about as rad as watching Sesame street. who would have thought watching people on 7 sqm race sails could be sooo exciting.

But perhaps it was supposed to be sarcastic

a double loop maybe

Actually those conditions are what we sail in here in Yeppoon on any given day with +15knots. Slightly flatter there as well.

Also, I didn't mind the video as it had windsurfing in it.

Admittedly I have seen some head cam footage where it was 4.5-5 conditions but in the footage it looked like 10 knots, which was a little disappointing.

(You should post that btw, the chase cam was kewl)

I liked the editing of the above though .

haha, thanks for posting ray!

In the morning of that day, there was a 51 knot gust recorded (95km/h or so), not exactly 100km/h but of course its completely over dramatised - as all my videos usually are ... haha. In case you missed it, its a bit of a parody of the Redbull Storm Chase video intro ;)

Setup was actually a 6m and 85l slalom board. Myself and french Julien Ventalon riding my kit. Whilst we were filming, the winds had dropped to around 30 with gusts up to 40 knots occasionally. In my mind, that's pretty extreme on slalom kit. Each to their own I guess ;)

Is it not possible to post Vimeo videos on Seabreeze? only YouTube?? I wanted to post the vid for the lazy people who might not click through, but it chews up my embed script

Anyhow, totally agree with EvlPanda re headcams making it look flatter/less gnarly than it really was. I guess its to do with the wide angle bubbled lenses they use? This video is using a GoPro Hero Wide, but I have a new Canon SX200IS on the way that with a casing, should give us some HD quality headcam footage; yay!

lol, using your smallest sail again sean.

it always amazes me how you pros make rough water look flat with your control.

i remember last time you unleadhed the 6m, everyone else was on 4.7m wave kit.

i;m surprised julien didn't rig his 7m [}:)]

cool vid.

make sure you always lubricate the o-rings on that housing before every sail. I recently water logged an Ixus 75 housing that was mounted to my boom. The housing looked like it still had enough silicon smeared on... Sadly that wasn't the case...

Cheers for the tips stehsegler... It will be my first run with more expensive cameras in housings (probably wouldn't cry if my GoPro died as it wasn't tooooo $$$'y, but if the SX200IS died I would definitely shed a tear).

re FW kit in those winds. There is actually HD footage of myself, Steve Allen, Jesper Vesterstrom from Denmark and a few other crazy Sydney guys sailing at Redcliffe in 35 knots with FW kit at the Oceanics in January last year. I have most of the raw footage but just haven't been @ss'd to edit it in to something ... one day ... one day ...

And Steve was on 11m that day! hahaha.

cough cough 30 - 40 knts hmmmmmmmm, to me it look like 20-25 max.

sorry for being brutal.

maybe the water was so full of dirt the wind could't blow the caps off.

35 is my max limit on a 4.2 on an 80l board...and i'm no lightweight at 90(ish)kgs.....maybe my scales are wrong - yay - - - or maybe it's that Pinnocio QLD windometer again.

haha, I stick to my guns.

We had about 60 mins of footage and you're probably right, in the best of the clips (which I used), it probably doesn't look that windy. It was quite a gusty day in between the rain squalls :-/

For the record, if it was under 30 knots I'd change up to 7m. Bjorn would ...

Amazing all the know-alls commenting on how ordinary 2 of the best slalom sailors in the country make the conditions look- cameras and good sailors always make it look less windy than it is. As Gestie said last time I saw Sean and Julien like that I was nearing overpowered on a 4.7m wavesail with me at 95kg.
