Anyone been there? Curious to know what it's like, the pro's and con's etc. I have been checking the live webcams for the past week at the Harry Nass centre and it always seems to be blowing.

Thanks Pointman... I should have done a search.

mkseven - will do, after reading the above thread it's not sounding as good as I first thought, but I'm going to look into it a little more all the same.

I've also been scouting for a windsurfing destination and so far Jericoacoara in Brazil seems to be the pick. Windsurf centre for gear hire seems excellent and the wind seems constant. Whilst the waves might not be there, I'm no pro. Anyone been there and recommend? (September/ October good times to visit?)Also seems to be a bit to do on the downtime. Good times, cheap food, cheap drinks, music&dancing, brazilians a plenty and of coarse the local people.

Another spot to consider is Mu Nui, Vietnam. Been there twice. Good reputation for wind, cheap everything, latest Starboard/severne gear. Good steady winds, some waves (if you know where to find them), warm water and only 8 hours from here (Melb).

see www.windsurf-vietnam.com - they do good package deals and the accommodation is good.

Cheers

hey there havnt been to dahab, but have spent some time in eltur, its about two hours north of sham el sheik, much smaller place than dahab, one windsurf centre run by an english couple, who are really nice and a Russian kite/ sail centre. they described it as authentic Egyptian town, couldnt be described as anything else! in the entire town the only non Egyptians are the 20 odd sailer's! they have a web site, Google it. see what you think.

Haven't been there (yet!) but there are some threads on this forum talking up Mauritius in a big way.

Try a search and you'll turn up lots of good info on the place. I'm thinking about working overseas next year so I've been scouting overseas windsurfing destinations also.

I have been there twice with "gybemasters" the winds were constant from about 10.30 am to 5.00pm not megga 18/25knts but really nice sailing, flattish near the beach and swell about 1km out. Lots of dolphins so dont panic when you see a load of dark shadows weaving in and out under your board. If i am honest there wasnt a lot for the family just the hotel....its a long way from anywere of interest, keep an eye on your valuables, the locals have a bit of a reputation but by the time you find out its to late.At the airport ensure you have some local money for the "tax" they only take local hard cash with no receipt i am sure its a scam but i couldnt get out of the airport without paying, i think it was about $20.00 or so.....have fun!

Cheers for all the suggestions guys!

I'm still liking Egypt.. I've travelled quite a bit around SE Asia and really am looking at something different this time, although the Vietnam destination sounds great. What's the best way to book something like this, is it all online bookings or does one goes through an agent. Everything seems geared towards the English and European's.
